Casa Indaba

Avalos Arquitectos y Asociados, S.C.’s first project in Caleta Palmilla, Casa Indaba was built for three families --parents and two of their children, all of them investors-- whose different tastes, preferences and needs had to be reconciled and satisfied. For this reason, many draft designs had to be prepared. The lot is located on a hill which slopes down to the golf course, so that the ocean views are perpendicular to the property. In spite of this, views of the ocean and the golf course were achieved for every area in the house. Access is through a round courtyard with a waterfall fountain in the middle and a double staircase descending to an old-style hallway that leads to a family-scale central courtyard shaded by a great caesalpineia tree. The following structures surround and have access to the courtyard: the palm roof palapa, living room, kitchen, family room-bedroom with a full bathroom, a guest suite and the hallway with a half bathroom for guests. Both the entrance and the service yards and parking area are located a half level up conveniently located for easy access from all areas. The same main courtyard offers access to the stairways to the upper level, which contains two suites, and the lower level, housing the pool, gardens, a covered terrace with bar, and another suite. There is a private access to the golf course with a beach shower.
