Casa Azul
A comfortable, cozy four-story home in harmony with its surroundings and the environment, originally designed and built for a couple from Paradise Valley, Arizona who are art enthusiasts. Its patios, terraces, and private gardens are cleverly protected from intruders. Avalos Arquitectos y Asociados, S.C. managed to obtain ocean views in spite of the restrictions imposed by neighboring structures which had violated the height restrictions. The house is surrounded by massive walls built with plastered concrete blocks and some in adobe and stone grouting. The exterior was painted blue and the inside white. Features grey and tan cantera stone floors with river stone inserts and Venetian tile accents; granite countertops; pine woodwork with hand-carved motifs; aluminum windows and screens; and pine log pergolas with bamboo frameworks. The roofs become terraces either covered with grass or round stones. The swimming pool is on top of the garage and the bedrooms all have private patios. The space flows from one to another in perfect harmony.
