Casa Alcaraván is nestled on a hillside trapezoidal lot in a private seaside neighborhood of Cabo San Lucas. It was designed in 1990 as a full time home for a young family.

Built with the environment in mind, the structure features a wind tower air circulation system and inner patios for optimum ventilation, which reduces energy use. The house is constructed and furnished with a curated set of materials, requiring little maintenance. Washed travertine marble and plastered walls in warm cream and beige tones harmonize with the rocky desert surroundings. Naturally varnished pine woodwork and anodized aluminum frame sweeping ocean vistas.

Guests arrive into the first level by ascending a short flight of stairs, emerging to broad ocean views over the central courtyard and infinity pool. The sliding glass walls of the living room, dining room, and kitchen areas open completely around the courtyard, integrating the indoor and outdoor spaces.

One of the first designs of its kind in Baja California Sur, the house maintains complete privacy throughout by making windows and screens invisible behind double pocket walls.

To make the most of the steep lot, the roof features a large sunset deck, garden of native plants, and a generous yard for the children to play.
