AAA chose a different architectural language when designing Villa Dulce at the top of a mountain in Pedregal, Cabo San Lucas. An international couple requested their dream home: a private vacation retreat with generous entertaining spaces.

This residence offers an understated, introverted facade to the street, which disguises its internal volume and drama. Guests enter through a quiet passage and green tunnel, then step into a two story atrium of exposed concrete and steel-clad glass, facing a sweeping view over the bay of Cabo San Lucas and the Sea of Cortez.

A floating staircase leads down into the public spaces: the great room with living area, open kitchen, and the indoor and outdoor dining rooms.

The space opens onto patios and decks for sunbathing and entertaining with the landscaped natural mountainside at their feet.

A sixty-seven foot long pool with infinity edges on two sides stretches across the expansive rear courtyard, cantilevered above the steep mountainside below. The pool includes a protected shallow children’s area on one end.

Marble slabs appear to float over the pool, drawing guests to a natural path through the desert garden and cliffside rock formations. An infinity edged patio with a firepit and built-in pizza oven overlooks the coastline and Cabo marina.

It was of utmost importance to AAA and to the owners to keep much of the lot untouched. Rock formations from the mountainside below reach into the hallways as natural sculpture. A Salate ficus tree growing on the lot before construction was preserved and became the focal point of the gallery along the guest bedroom wing.
